Dearest,
How are you? How is the tip of your tongue? Odd question I am very much aware but now do you find yourself thinking about it - perhaps even feeling it run across the back of your teeth or curled up to the soft spot at the top of your mouth.

What joy have you created for yourself this week? Was it time spent with loved one or time along in nature? Was it an experience or was it a thing? Take a moment now to recall the memory - where you were, what you heard, were there smells or tastes that come to mind, textures or a tone of light? Or was it one of those weeks that were just hard and heavy - one that we let it be what it was and keep moving forward knowing better times are ahead - right in this moment.
Memories can be wonderful things, transporting us back to moments that can put a smile on our faces in the present. They can also be self-inflicting torture sessions. Finding a way to be grateful for each can be a very wobbly tightrope.
A favourite way for me to get out of a wobble is to bake and my go to is brownie. What's your favourite recipe? Here is my brownie recipe - I'd love you to share yours with me or someone else this week. That recipe that the pages on the book are a testament to the number of times it's been used, again, and again, with traces of each ingredient embedded into the paper.
Deep Dish Brownies
3/4 C melted butter
1 1/2 C sugar
1 1/2 t vanilla
3 eggs
3/4 C flour
1/2 C cocoa
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1 C chocolate chips (optional)
Heat oven to 180 C.
Grease square pan.
In a medium bowl blend melted butter, sugar and vanilla.
Add eggs and beat well with a spoon
Add flour, cocoa, baking powder and sale to egg mixture beating until well blended
Stir in choc chips if using
Spread into pan
Bake 40 - 45 minutes or until mixture pulls away from sides of pan
Cool completely and cut into squares (though we always struggle to wait till its completely cools as warm brownie and vanilla icecream are hard to beat)
One of the best joy triggers is giving someone else a gift - just because. So I think I might go and make a batch of brownies and give some away.
Take care dearest of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our wonderful world.
You are worthy - always
Ngā manaakitanga
