Joy in Diversity

Dearest,
How have the last few days been for you? Energetic and sustaining or a bit of a challenge? Or are you trying to think what exactly you've been up to with days blurring into each other!

I've awoken to a rainy Saturday morning with nothing I must do and no where I must go. For me it's a wonderful circumstance yet I know friends for whom this would be a nightmare - isn't it wonderful how different we all are.
Diversity is critical to thriving, yet too often we seek out those who look the same, think the same and behave the same. We seek out similarities because that's easy, we know what to expect. I wonder how many unexpectedly wonderful interactions I've deprived myself of because I turned to the familiar rather than the new?
Like going to the same cafe and ordering the same items - perhaps to avoid the risk of disappointment. I think I may just try doing something different this week. Is there anything you might do differently to take you out of default mode? I'd love to hear what it is.
As I write the rain is lifting and everything outside is shining. The deep purple lavendar flowers look like they are shivering. The jasmine flowers, clustered together, as if they know there is safety in numbers. Huddled from the destructive wind.
My gaze shifts inside to the fresh bunch of flowers at the centre of the table. I used to think fresh flowers were something only rich people had in their homes. Then I realised that was the story in my head - whether I created that story or someone else told me I cannot recall. What I do know is I've re-written it - fresh flowers in the home are for those who go out and get them! Doesn't matter if they are purchased or picked wild, if you really want them you can have them.
What's something you've always wanted to do, or to have, but haven't? Is there a storyline you need to change to make space for joy triggers in your life, in each moment?
I do hope you can create a narrative to enable you to live a life you thrive in. Are there any joy triggers you can create for yourself this week, this moment?
Take care dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our wonderful world.
You are worthy - always
Ngā manaakitanga (many blessings)
