Dearest,
How was yesterday? Looking back does it bring a smile to your face or was it one of those days you'd rather not return to? Perhaps it's a struggle to recall exactly what you did in the blur of getting things done. The wonderful thing about yesterday is that if it wasn't that great, you don't have to experience it again - it's done with no ability to change. And now you have this moment which will form part of tomorrows yesterday.

It's a stunning Sunday morning here. Football is being played outside in the chilly late autumn air. Bryan Adams is asking 'Please Forgive Me" in the background taking me back to my teenage years - I love how music has that ability to transform our thoughts and feelings.
When that song was released, I had just hooked myself a boyfriend. And time for spooky shite - the song now playing on a random YouTube list is "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton. The song that was our first dance with that same boyfriend from 1993 who agreed to marry me in 1999.
That same amazing human I get to still wake up to in 2025. I say the same......but really neither of us are the same. Those two teenagers wouldn't recognise themselves and I'm not just talking about the size of our waists, wrinkles and grey hairs. We used to think in black and white. We can now see life is way too beautiful, complex and messy to be right or wrong, good or bad. Mostly we now look for the nuances - except when we don't as ego and human traits dominate.
We used to think that earning $50,000 meant we were rich and while I now know that isn't true in a financial sense we were actually already truly rich because we loved and were loved.
And every year we have come richer through good times and bad. We have built a wealth of memories and experiences. So as I write to you today, while I know there are others with much much much larger bank accounts, I've very content with all my blessings right in this moment.
What non financial wealth can you take some time to appreciate today? A beautiful vista, perhaps or memories sparked by music or photos. A great big hug with someone special.
I hope you can see all the beauty that surrounds you each day, Dearest, including yourself. And if it's one of those phases where the beauty is a bit harder to see, I hope you can take comfort that it will come into view soon.
Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our beautiful world.
You are worthy - always
Ngā manaakitanga xx
