Unremarkable Moments

Dearest,

How are you feeling in this moment? How were you feeling when you first awoke? Take a deep breath and then exhale as long as you can. Just keep pushing it out until there isn't any left.

It's Saturday night and I'm sitting on our couch, looking out to the park we are blessed to back onto. There's always something to watch, even when there isn't a person in sight.

The Pōhutukawa on the other side of the park have developed that grey tinge they get just before they bloom into their bright red and crimson display. Mother nature always reminding that there is nothing (well nothing I can think of anyway) that is always glorious, always in its prime.

As if to emphasis my thinking, The Byrds Turn! Turn! Turn! starts playing through the stereo (that I had been unaware was even on) as I finished that last sentence and returned my gaze to the park. I've written about this before - Seasons, phases, eras, ages - however we measure them, moments flow like a river. Some leave their mark. Some are unremarkable. Some initially seem unremarkable, only to be transformed by time as a cherished memory.

A fat Thrush is feeding on the nectar of the feijoa flowers (the petals taste like marshmallow - try it if you haven't before - delicate deliciousness). If flies away as a couple walk past on the park. Another fleeting moment. Has this week provided you any moments you want to capture forever? What if it turned out it was the last time you would experience that thing. Would you want to cherish them now? I wonder if any of your currently unremarkable moments will be transformed to something precious. I hope they are and for wonderful reasons.

As we enter into the last calendar month, I hope you can move through it as you need to. In any way that fills you with joy. In a way that moves with kindness to yourself and others. In a way that evokes curiosity and awe.

Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our beautiful world.

You are worthy - always

Ngā manaakitanga xx
