Priorities - what are yours?

Dearest,

How do your shoulders feel? What about your jaw? Take a moment now to wiggle each and remove any tightness that you didn't even realise you are holding. Perhaps you need to take a few deep and nourishing breaths too. Now my Dearest, how do you feel?

What silly fun have you experienced this week? The kind of fun that some people say should only be undertaken by kids. To those people I stick out my tongue and blow a big raspberry. For me, I stomped in a puddle and stuck my tongue out (hmm theme popping up here) to catch the rain when I was caught in a downpour on a morning walk. Those "silly" moments trigger the best joy moments, giving you a wonderful surge of goodness that stays throughout the day.

As I write to you today, day three of The Masters is on in the background. If I'm truly honest, I am spending quite a bit of my writing time actually watching. I'm in awe at the ease at which they move that little white ball around the course.

I play golf and most times I find that it's four hours of self-abuse as you walk around beautiful scenery. I think it's a great example of you get what you do. These players spend so many hours perfecting each stroke. They spend hours refining their mental game, practicing using the tools they will need to keep them where they need to be when in competition and the pressure comes on. I, however, probably average playing once every three weeks during the year with zippo practice. Hmmm I suspect that's not going to result in an improved game. It's also something that I've consciously chosen.

I only have so much time and while reducing my golf handicap would be awesome it's not high enough up on my list of things for a great life. What's top of your list - what are the top 10? Do you even know what a great life for you looks like?

If you are not sure, take some time and figure it out. It makes decision making super easy and when you make something salient in your mind you'll be amazed at the "luck" that starts coming your way involving that priority. There's even a saying for that "where the focus goes energy flows" (pretty sure is a Marie Forleo ditty) - choose what you focus on wisely!

And remember, Dearest, priorities can change. I'd be so bold and presumptuous to say they should change as life progresses. When you are young and finding out who you want to be and when you are older and supposedly wiser.

When you know your priorities, you can make sure that what you do daily supports them. It's our previous habits that have created the life we are currently living so if you don't feel like this was the life you were meant to be living, what small (or big) changes do you need to make? You are worth it, and you can do it - you've got this!

Let's be like those pro golfers this week and focus on what's going to make positive impact for us and those around us. Let's also have some silly fun while we are at it - splash in a puddle, play spotlight, build a fort - whatever will bring a silly grin to your face.

Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our beautiful world.

You are worthy - always
