Our World

Today's letter is a little different. Today is Fathers Day here in Aotearoa New Zealand so this is a poem to celebrate all the Dad's who are loved.

Our World
He is like te rā.
The centre of our universe from whom we receive
strength and the ability to grow and thrive.
But te rā is hot,
too scorching to hold
with angry storms and a harsh light.
His light is calming like te marama.
With the power to move our tides,
an unseen influence but still a constant and always there.
But te marama waxes and wanes
where his love can be felt always.
Like a strong rākau
He is the roots of our whānau,
holding us strong and nurturing us.
He is connected to the whenua and provides a place of shelter.
But a rākau must await others to come to them.
He seeks knowledge and experiences.
He is like te wai.
Able to permeate hard and cold surfaces
making them smooth and ātaahua
Never ending from Rangi-nui to Papa-tū-ā-nuku
He is where we need him to be
Feeding our beings to thrive, sustaining our very life.
But te wai can cause devastation,
with too much, or too little
Where his is never unbalanced
He is our te rā, te marama, rākau and wai,
for he is our world.
Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our beautiful world.
You are worthy - always
Ngā manaakitanga.
