Joy of coffee & cheese scones

Dearest,

How are you in this moment? Are you curled up on a couch or spread out on a rug outside? Is the sun's warmth penetrating your skin or are you wrapped up in layers hiding from the colds icy touch?

I'm sipping coffee and devouring a fresh cheese scone dripping with melted butter I have lathered on. A bonus is that someone else made it for me and they will also clear it away when I'm done - leaving me to just enjoy my delicious Dark Horse Coffee in their funky hipster coffee garden.

I'm amused as I write that, as there is nothing about me that is either funky or hipster - perhaps that's why I tucked myself in the corner. I'm not sure how I would describe myself. After pondering a while, I think I've landed on "Quilty". Not the kind that's planned out and colour coordinated - no mine is a mishmash of shapes and colours. Threads interweave the pieces, some broken, some barely hanging on, others strong and durable.

But you know what - at 48 years I can see its freaken beautiful and I love it! Each piece is uniquely mine. How would you describe yourself? Drop me a note and let me know - can you even find a single word that resonates? I'm not aware of any human that can be summed up in a single word - we are far to complex creatures for that - even those people we think "they are just an a$%hole" - I bet they are also sad and hurt too. A happy person is never a mean person.

That's why I try and tread each day with kindness and curiosity - I don't always succeed, but that's the intention, that's home base.

What's your intention as you move through each day? I know some people assign a "word for the year". I've never been able to just have one focus. My whānau would says its' my "tisim" - I use the term multi passionate. Either way always do what works for you.

However you choose to move through this life I hope you take care dearest, of yourself, other others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our wonderful world.
