Joy In Moments over Things

Dearest,
How is your body and breath? Take a moment now and pause. Did your body automatically take a deep breath in? Did your shoulders relax a little or your toes wiggle a bit?

I'm writing to you on a Saturday afternoon as I indulge in a taste bud tingling glass of bubbles with fresh oysters in their shell. Definitely a treat, but one with no particular reason. Sometimes just life is all the reason we need to celebrate and treat ourselves.
While the bubble and oysters are divine, the moment I savored most today was breakfast. I stepped outside into our backyard to cut fresh chives and pluck aromatic sage. Adding fresh herbs to our scrambled eggs, straight from our garden. So simple. So joyful.
What treats have you made time for this past week? Maybe things have been so busy a treat is the furthest thing from your mind. If that is the case, I hope you take a moment to treat yourself this week. Remember treats don't have to be grand or exciting - though they can be! A treat can be as simple as being present enough to experience awe in nature - a sunset, a rolling wave crashing, the sway of a tree, even the taste of freshly picked herbs.
As time continues to roll on, I hope we can focus less on success being measured by stuff we own. Instead, I hope we can accumulate lots of vibrant memories created through adventures in lands near and far. With people familiar and foreign. Present in nature.
Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our beautiful world.
You are worthy - always
Ngā manaakitanga xx
