Joy from my moments in the garden

Dearest,

How are you in this moment? How do your eyes feel? How about the tips of your fingers or the underneath of your toes? Take a deep breath and let your body adjust itself in whatever way it needs. Take another deep breath to enjoy this new position. And another as you begin to notice, in detail, the things around you.

This week the weather has meant that sitting outside after dinner was an option. It was a beautiful night with the clock about to strike six (yes we had already had dinner!) so I took myself and a cup of tea out to our backyard.

The suns heat penetrated through to my skin, sunglasses a necessity. The breeze gently nudged the branches of the plum tree, but it was so light I couldn't feel it - only see it. Birds fleeted and created a chorus with the bees gathering their nightcap of nectar, creating a soft smooth tone.

The garden was inviting me to quietly sit with it. To be an observer with no conversation required. It's gentle and unforced. Deep inhales began to occur unconsciously as my eyes started to consciously notice details.

So many shades of green that to call them all green seemed lazy. Burst of pink were flaunted by a rose that was never planted. The erect structure of the purple flowers of the sage. The vibrant orange of the calendula which feels like it is yelling for attention contrast with the quiet and demure lime blossom. Looks can be deceiving. The limes sharp spikes a reminder that not all beauty should be approached.

New season raspberry has allowed space for borage who is trying to ward off the enthusiastic peppermint, each protected under the canopy of the peach tree. A blackbird swooped past low and I'm not sure who got the bigger fright. It's consoled itself with a thick long worm extracted from the vege garden, between the row of broccoli and silver beet.

I appreciate how wonderful life is, that I have a space like this to enjoy time in. What space brings joy to you? I hope you make time to spend it there this week. Just to enjoy it and not work on it. Just to be.

Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our wonderful world.

You are worthy - always
